Monte Cummings:  Coach Cummings has served as an assistant in the Kelso Basketball Program since 1997.  Coach Cummings  graduate from Kelso High School in 1972. After HS graduation, Coach Cummings  attended and graduated from NW Nazarene University.  Coach Cummings taught two years at Ocosta HS, and twenty eight years for the Castle Rock School District before retiring in 2006. Coach Cummings and his wife Val have two boys; Tate and Zach both of whom played here at Kelso High School.

Joe Kinch:  This is Coach Kinch’s 19th season as the Kelso Boys Basketball head coach, the longest serving coach in Kelso basketball history. Coach Kinch played on Coach Roffler’s first team at Lower Columbia Community College. Coach Kinch graduate from Eastern Oregon University in 1995. His first head coaching position was as the head boys’ basketball coach at Orting High School in 1998. Coach Kinch was named head boys basketball coach at Kelso High School in 1999. Coach Kinch also serves as an assistant in football and track.   Coach Kinch is the KVA teacher at Kelso High School. He and his wife Katie have three children; Grace, a 2016 Kelso High grad and current Junior at Gonzaga Univeristy, Emmitt, a freshman in the Foster School Of Business at the University of Washington and Hannah, a freshman here at Kelso High School.

Justin Roberts: Justin Roberts returns for his third season working in our basketball program.  This year Justin will work with our JV team, assisting Coach D’Aboy.   Justin was a four-year player for the Hilanders from 2009-2013.  Justin does a fantastic job working with all of our players to help each improve their game. He is a recent graduate of WSU Vancouver and Western Governor, where he completed his student teaching. Justin is working as a long-term sub at HMS this year and also coaches football and track at Coweeman Middle School.

Scott Sims:  This is Coach Sim’s sixth season as our C-Team head coach.  Scott brings a ton of experience to our program having coached multiple sports through his twenty nine years of teaching.  Coach Sims was the former assistant to Jeff Reinland when the Hilanders went to the state tournament in 1993.  Coach Sims and his wife Kelly both teach in the Kelso School District and have two children; Corbin who works for Amazon and Karli a student at teacher at Carrols Elementary.

Cedrique Chaney: Cedrique returns to our staff for the 2018-19 season.  Cedrique graduated from Kelso HS in 2011 where he was an all - league player in both football and basketball.  Upon graduation Ced went to Central Washington University, where he enjoyed a decorated career as a college football player.  After graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Social Science, Cedrique returned to Kelso where he works as an IA and substitue teacher in the Kelso School District. As always, it is invaluable when former players return and give back to the program like Cedrique is doing.

Tom D’Aboy:  This is Coach D’Aboy’s fith season on staff working with our JV team.  Coach D’Aboy is a graduate of Sandy HS and Gonzaga University where he played baseball.  Coach D’Aboy is a math teacher at Kelso High School along with being the Head Baseball coach for the Hilanders.  Coach D’Aboy has great enthusiasm and knowledge of the game of basketball and does a great job relating to our players.

Grady PearsellCoach Pearsell joins our staff for the 2018-2019 season. Grady is a second-year teacher at Huntington Middle School. Born in Salem, Oregon, Grady moved to Nampa, Idaho at age five where he graduated from Skyview High School in 2012. After High School graduation, Coach Pearsell served as an assistant basketball coach at his alma mater, Skyview High School, while he attended Northwest Nazarene University. Grady met his wife while attending NNC and both now are teachers in the Kelso School District.
